SCRIPTURE REFLECTION Today’s readings are full of confidence in a God whose care is sufficient for our needs. There is nourishment for our souls but also the nurturing of a faith which says nothing can happen to us that can separate us from God’s love. The faith that can hold firm when sorrows and challenges come does not appear overnight. It grows day by day in a prayer and self-giving that can be honest about our doubts and fears, and our anxiety that God will not prove to be enough. It is not only the example of saints and martyrs that shows us how to do this. The extraordinary courage and faith of ordinary people speaks to us of the grace and power that God offers to each one of us in our daily lives. In seeking these gifts and allowing them to work in us, there is much we can learn from the example of our fellow Christians.

CHANGES IN PARISH PERSONNEL At a recent meeting of the Oblate Provincial Council, certain personnel changes have been made that concern this Parish. Fr Brian de Búrca OMI has been appointed to St Teresa’s Parish, Norris Green, Liverpool, and will take up his appointment in the autumn. Fr Bert Bromley OMI has retired from full time ministry and has returned to his native Ballyshannon.

We wish them all the best and ask that you keep them in your prayers.
‘FAREWELL’ BUT NOT GOODBYE
FROM FR BERT
Dear Friends,

I arrived back in Quex Road on the 28th February 2004, after an absence of 25 years! Strangely, when I walked through the door of the Priest’s House, it seemed as if I had never left Kilburn! I must say, the past four and a half years here have been, in the main, happy ones!
Quex Road Parish is now a multi-cultural Parish - one which is full of promise and potential. May it continue to be a ‘welcoming Parish’ too.
Now, however, at the age of 76, it’s time for me to ‘move on’ - but NOT FOREVER! I hope to return to Quex Road from time to time. I now simply wish to ‘THANK YOU’ all for your friendship and support over the years. Also, my thanks to my Oblate brothers, for their kindness and help as well. I am retiring to Ireland. I have chosen to do so without any great ‘Fuss or Bother’! It’s the best way in the end! So, my friends, it’s only FAREWELL & NOT GOODBYE.
Till we meet again - Farewell and God Bless you all.

Fr Bert
